Canada is a beautiful country, and Vancouver is a very beautiful city.
On the first Sunday after we arrived Vancouver, Mrs. Farquhar took me and my classmate to Fraser River for a walk. The river was clean and clear. There were lots of trees and bushes on the riverside. It’s winter, but the green moss made them colorful. Far across the river was the Rocky Mountain. It’s very tall, and the cloud was low. The top of the mountains---which was covered with the snow and ice---was mixed together with the cloud.
When we were walking, we always saw big birds flying across the river. Some of them were standing on the lamppost or on the mailbox.
Mrs. Farquhar told us that Fraser River was very beautiful in summer, and in winter it’s beautiful too. I like its natural beauty.
The natural scenery was beautiful. That’s my first impression of Vancouver. But soon I realized that the people here were beautiful too.
Canadians are warm. They say “hello” to the person in the street, no matter they’re stranger or not. The workers working at shopping mall, bank or other places, they’re very nice and warm to the customers. As if reception isn’t their work, but their hobby.
Canadians are also very polite and kind. They always say “please”, ”sorry” and “thank you”. They are saying them no purpose. The etiquette has already become habit.
The daily life of students is beautiful too. They wake up a little early in the morning, get change, make bed and brush teeth. Then they get downstairs for breakfast. After breakfast, they go to school by car or on foot.
In the school, the headmaster isn’t serious, and the teachers are very kind, and so the students. They’re nice to each other and they enjoy their school life.
After school, their parents will pick them up from school and go home. Most middle school has no homework. So after school, the students can play with their friends or do something they like.
When it’s time for dinner, the family sits together and enjoys their time together. After dinner, they will watch TV or do something else. When it’s time for bed, they go to bed.
They live in a slow pace of life. Most of the people who live here don’t have to spend much time on working. And students don’t have to spend much time on studying. So they can spend their time on decorating their life.
For example, on Halloween, every family will decorate their house with fake skeletons, pumpkins, fake spiders and fake cobwebs. And people will wear costumes and do makeups.
Not only on Halloween, Canadians have different ways to celebrate every festival, and enjoy their time with their family, friends, and lovers.
What a beautiful country! This trip opened my eyes and taught me a lot of things that I can’t learn from studying in school.
